After two successful reunion tours in 2014 and 2016, The Matches are reuniting, for perhaps the last time, on July 21, 2018, at The Fillmore in San Francisco to celebrate the 10-year anniversary of their third album, A Band In Hope.
The original line-up of the band – Justin San Souci ’00, Jon Devoto, Matt Whalen ’01 and Shawn Harris ’00 – will play A Band In Hope in its entirety, along with songs from throughout its catalog. This album spawned the acclaimed music video for “Yankee In A Chip Shop,” shot on location in London and co-directed by Harris. Interesting trivia: San Souci, Whalen and Harris were members of the Campus Ministry Team when they were O’Dowd students! Also, original band member Matthew Esposito ’99 left the group to attend the Naval Academy and has been serving as a Marine Infantry Officer since graduating from the Academy in 2005.
Also, Kevin Judd (son of O’Dowd Associate Principal Brian Judd) plays bass guitar for Mt. Eddy – the band that is opening for the Matches. How’s that for a coincidence!
