Sydney Wisherop ’21 was honored as the City of Alameda’s most outstanding aquatic volunteer for 2018 and presented with the Emma Hood Memorial Trophy at the city’s swimming championships held on August 5.
The trophy recipient is selected by the Alameda Recreation and Park Department’s water safety instructors, and this year Hood’s grandson, Ken Armerich, presented the trophy.
As an aquatic volunteer Sydney taught children to swim, under the guidance of certified water safety instructors. She chose this volunteer opportunity to fulfill her sophomore Friends Project hours.
