O’Dowd Volleyball Team Receives Academic Award

The award, which was initiated during the 1992-93 academic year, honors collegiate and high school volleyball teams that displayed excellence in the classroom during the school year by maintaining at least a 3.30 cumulative team grade point average on a 4.0 scale, or a 4.10 cumulative team GPA on a 5.0 scale.

This is the second consecutive season the O’Dowd team has earned the award. “Everyone on the roster last season contributed to this award, and they should all be very proud of their accomplishments – both on the court and in the classroom,” varsity volleyball coach Jorge Penate said.

The team, comprised of 15 student-athletes, posted semester GPAs of 3.71 in the fall, 3.75 in the spring, and finished with a cumulative GPA of 3.73.
