The O’Dowd Dragon mountain bike team raced at Granite Bay California on the shores of Folsom Lake on April 15 in Race #4 of the NorCal League South Conference series. While the O’Dowd squad included only five riders this weekend, each came with their “A” game.
The day started off as always with the girls up first. The Dragons were represented in the JV field by Bella Walters ’19 who fought through a first lap crash and bloody knee to finish 20th on the day, her best finish to date. Bella ended up having four stitches in her knee, but was excited she qualified for State’s with her performance. Lily O’Hare ’21 represented the Dragons in the freshman race and had another strong showing finishing just off the podium in 6th place, and retaining 3rd place overall for the league series.
On the boy’s side, Andrew Fee ’21 had his best race so far this season finishing 14th. Matthew Justice ’20 also had his best race of the season finishing 5th on the day and achieving one of his goals of making a NorCal podium. Caleb O’Hare ’18 represented the Dragons in the varsity race and hung close to the front group for most of the race finishing in 8th place on the day.
The Dragons finished the day tied for 7th place and are in 7th place overall in the South Conference out of 24 teams.
Next up for the Dragons is Race #5, set for May 6 at Six Sigma Ranch in Lake County California.
