As many of you know, our students joined forces with nearly 300 other schools at Stanford University last weekend for its annual speech and debate tournament. Our students battled valiantly and came away with the following achievements:
Parliamentary Debate
Alden O’Rafferty and Connor Whitehill completed the varsity preliminary rounds with a perfect 6-0 record before losing to Dougherty Valley in double octafinals;
Paulina Harding and Gratia O’Rafferty advanced to the junior varsity elimination rounds before losing to Claremont in double octafinals.
Public Forum Debate
Isabella Ibarra and Robert Thomas advanced to the junior varsity elimination rounds before losing to the Nueva School;
Evian Jiang earned 8th-place speaker award in a pool of 426 debaters;
The following teams all earned winning records in the junior varsity division but missed the cut to elimination rounds based on speaker points:
