Congratulations to the O’Dowd Cross Country team on their performance at the CIF State meet this past weekend at Woodward Park in Fresno, CA. The Dragons qualified as a team for the Girls Division 4 race based on their 3rd place team finish at the NCS Championships at Hayward High School on November 18th. This team advancing to compete at the State Championship was made up of 7 young ladies: Cece Garofoli (12th), Maeve Kelly (12th), Isabella Brusco (11th), Jeneva Toolajian (11th), Kalea Fong (10th), Abigail Gonzalez (9th) and Samantha Daniels (9th). The girls raced in the divisional race finishing in 14th place in a field of 27 teams. Isabella Brusco lead the dragons finishing top time of 19:33 which was a personal best on the very challenging 5k course.
The future is bright for the ladies as they will return 5 of their top 7 runners next year and will look to improve on their team performance at NCS as well as at the State Championship.
Tommy Murphy (11th) qualified for the State Championships as in individual and competed in the Division 4 boys race. He represented the Dragons coming off his 8th place finish at the NCS Championships where he received first team honors. Tommy will look to return next year with the boys team who will also return 5 of their 7 top runners.
