Committed to our Charism – 2021 Transforming Lives Dinner

Next Thursday, November 4 at 7:00pm, the O’Dowd community will join together virtually for our annual Transforming Lives Dinner. Event Co-Chairs Kate Mullen and Monica Marcone reflect on how our Charism to Find God in All Things calls us to invest in O’Dowd’s diverse community, where all students are given the opportunity to thrive.

The socio-economic diversity of O’Dowd’s student body is not an accident. It is a well-planned and well-funded priority of the school, ingrained in our mission and Charism. Our vibrant student body, with a wide variety of life experiences and perspectives, is an essential part of the O’Dowd experience.

Each year O’Dowd grants over $3.5 million in tuition assistance to over 350 students, who receive an average of $10,000 to support their O’Dowd education. Every fall, our Transforming Lives Dinner (TLD) invites our community to help raise $500,000 to support these families.

Without tuition assistance, one-third of O’Dowd’s students would not be on campus today. We would lose the vitality and joy these students bring to our English classes, our art classes, our science classes, our sports fields, our student council, our stage, our retreats, and our honor rolls. We would lose our Charism’s call to community in diversity that makes O’Dowd such an amazing place to learn.

We are holding TLD virtually to keep our community safe. Please register now (it’s free!) and join us on November 4 at 7:00pm. You will hear from powerful student speakers whose lives have changed because of O’Dowd’s diverse and engaging culture. You will be inspired by our keynote speaker, Erin Dangerfield ’99, Golden State Warriors Senior VP of People and Culture, named Top 40 Under 40 by the SF Business Times.

When you give generously to Transforming Lives, you make a difference not just for students receiving tuition assistance but for the entire student body. Your important donation ensures that O’Dowd remains an inclusive and dynamic community, every day.

On behalf of the 20+ parents on the amazing TLD Committee, thank you for your gifts. We ALL appreciate it so much.
