The weekend of October 22-23, 2016 was very busy and rewarding for the O’Dowd cheer team. On Saturday morning, at Hellman Hollow in Golden Gate Park – amongst the sea of pink and white – the cheer team cheered, greeted and danced for 10,000 walkers and runners who came together for Making Strides for Breast Cancer. This annual event, sponsored by The American Cancer Society, is a fun filled morning race for survivors, those fighting the battle, and in memory of those who lost the fight.
On Sunday, members of the cheer team participated in the JAMZ Reload regional cheer competition at Stockton Arena. The team came in 4th place, qualifying for nationals which will be held in Las Vegas in February. The cheerleaders put in many extra hours beginning at camp this summer at CAL Berkeley and attended stunt clinics in preparation for competition. We wish them luck as they pursue a top win at JAMZ Nationals. Go Dragons!
