Entering his freshman year at Oakland’s Bishop O’Dowd High at a mere 4-foot-11, Brandon Davis felt his days as a basketball player were probably over.
His career in athletics was just getting started.
Davis, who grew up in San Leandro, volunteered on the chain crew for football games and eventually was offered a job to work the scoreboard and keep stats.
He was able to parlay that into a job as sports information director at Dominican University until he was promoted to associate director of athletics.
