Carlos earned his BA in Mathematics from UC Berkeley and his MA in Teaching from the University of San Francisco. Originally from the Sacramento River Delta, he brings a deep appreciation for both intellectual rigor and personal growth to his work with students.

Carlos teaches with the goal of helping students become confident, independent thinkers who develop a strong and rewarding work ethic. A firm believer in the power of a growth mindset, he encourages students to embrace challenges and see learning as a lifelong process. He believes mathematics is one of humanity’s greatest achievements—an extraordinary tool that helps us make sense of the world around us. Outside the classroom, Carlos enjoys spending time with family, playing Xiang Qi, reading, writing, painting, making music, exercising, and exploring the outdoors through camping and hiking.
