Why I Teach:
I teach because of the life-lasting impressions my own teachers left on me. They taught me to challenge and accept myself, and I hope to do that for future generations as well.
Most powerful teaching technique:
Relationship-building. You never know what a student is going through when they step through the classroom doors, or what they carry with them. It is because of this that I try to learn where each student comes from and where they want to go so we can work together.
Why are the subjects you teach important?:
The skills we learn in English are valuable regardless of the subject or career someone ends up pursuing. It is even more important in today's day and age to be a critical reader, writer, listener, and speaker.
Favorite quotes:
"To live is the rarest thing in the world. Most people exist, that is all." -Oscar Wilde
Favorite trivia:
Recommended visual media:
Weathering with You, Everything Everywhere All at Once, Big Fish
Recommended reads:
Twenty Love Poems and a Song of Despair by Pablo Neruda, Citizen: An American Lyric by Claudia Rankine, East of Eden by John Steinbeck
Hobbies or outside interests:
I like watching anime and playing video games within the safe confines of my bedroom. When I'm not hiding indoors, you can probably find me hiking or visiting a cute aesthetic cafe or bookstore with my partner!
